For the nourishment and defense of our plants we work with natural substances of vegetable or mineral origin, banning all synthetic products.

 

For herbaceous species we carry out ancient but effective practices such as crop rotation and the safeguarding of essences capable of hosting predators and insect parasites harmful to our plants.

 

Crop rotation allows us to implement strategies that help us to carry on our crops in a natural way:

- legumes to enrich the soil with nitrogen, otherwise not absorbed by plants by air;

- brassicaceae to eliminate harmful parasites from the ground.

 

We carry out the rotational green manure technique to maintain or increase the fertility of the soil.

 

We minimize tillage in order to preserve the natural structure.

 

We use mature manure of animal origin to increase the level of fertility of the soil and to create an environment conducive to the development of a microfauna useful for starting the processes of demineralisation of the nutritive products.

 

A bit of history

March 2020

We buy just over one hectare of land from three different owners and the portion of the farmhouse to be restored (photo 1).

The land is cultivated with oranges, clementines and windbreak olive trees; we rely on a contractor for work in the fields and we buy various tools.

 

October 2020

We do the first olive harvest and start producing extra virgin olive oil scrupulously following the rules.

We are becoming real farmers and try to learn the farming trade.

 

December 2020

We operate the block sale of oranges and clementines.

This experience is really bad and we decide never to sell to large-scale retailers again: we want to look for the niche of consumers who appreciate the organic quality of our products. Thus we begin to attend specialized courses that allow us to carry out this ancient profession and live in harmony with Nature.

 

July 2021

We bought about another hectare of land where there is a well (photo 2).

We build the irrigation system for all our fields.

 

September 2021

We bought the lower part of the house and the small piece of land surrounding it in order to be the sole owners of the entire plot (photo 3).

We begin the certification process of our crops with “Bioagricert” third part company.

 

May 2022

We buy tractor, mulcher and tiller.

We are now fully autonomous farmers.

 

January 2023

We obtain the organic certification from “Bioagricert”.

 

March 2023

Some beekeepers looking for organic land put their bee families in residence for the flowering period of our citrus fruits.

For the first year we are able to offer citrus honey.

 

January 2024

With the collaboration of our agronomist and thanks to the availability of our oil mill, an impromptu idea takes shape: our extra virgin olive oil with oranges is born.

We have another excellent product.

 

August 2024

Although still incomplete, the stray dogs recovered on various occasions and circumstances have their refuge in the Oasis.

The refuge of the Oasi del Buon Gesù is born.
